Liz Flatters

Creative Director, Founder & Marketing Strategist

Liz is the Creative Director and Marketing Strategist at Staying in Touch. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the company, Liz is the main point of contact for our Perth-based and interstate clients. An MBA from UWA and many years experience in business means Liz can apply her expertise in marketing, business development and strategic thinking to assist our clients – a significant added benefit to working with Staying in Touch.

Liz’s passion for helping businesses develop and grow has motivated her to take on various roles over the years. She was a Small Business Advisor for the WA Business Growth Centre for two years and has held positions on boards including the State Training Board Small Business Training Committee, the Business Enterprise Centre Joondalup Board and the McCusker Learning & Development Strategic Advisory Group.

To continue staying abreast of the innovations and challenges facing small business, Liz has been an active member of the Joondalup Business Association since 1995 (when she launched Staying in Touch), and BNI Australia since 2008 (an international referral networking organisation with members and chapters in over 70 countries).

Liz was a member of BPW Australia for 20+ years (a division of the International Federation of Business & Professional Women – which has clubs in around 100 countries, and membership of around 25,000) and held board positions at local, state and national levels.

Through her involvement in BPW Liz presented at many conferences, seminars and workshops on topics related to business and marketing; and helped to promote and support a number of projects, events and initiatives to progress gender equity and empower women here in Australia and internationally. These include education scholarships in Papua New Guinea, a nursing school in Mexico… and so much more. Highlights of her BPW career include:

  • Keynote speaker at the BPW International Conference in Mexico City.
  • Awarded BPW Western Australian Business Woman of the Year 2008.
  • Heading the International Women’s Day campaign in 2019, promoting the theme “Better the balance, better the world” throughout her local business community. Then writing a submission entitled “Ten Ordinary Women” which went on to win a category in the International Women’s Day Best Practice Competition – one of over 300 high quality entries received from groups around the world.

Brett Flatters

Managing Director & Resident Barista

Brett is the Managing Director at Staying in Touch – yet he still makes a better coffee than any of us!

For many years Brett applied his artistic and creative skills to graphic design and website development projects for our clients, but with the bigger team in the company today he rarely ‘gets on the tools’.

Brett’s secret power is “problem-solving” and he has an incredible ability to think outside the box to achieve a desired outcome – so he’s often tasked with finding solutions for our more quirky, challenging jobs. His current focus is on managing key accounts (including our clients located in the south west) and networking on the golf course.

Claudia Mottolini

Project Manager & Style Savant

Claudia joined the Staying in Touch team in 2019. As our Project Manager, her customer-focused role is to oversee the liaison between our clients and our creative team to ensure all projects are progressing forward smoothly.

She is a mum of two girls and has run her own design studio. Claudia has background in IT, Design and Visual Art, and has worked with the WA State Government to visualise the preliminary building concepts for the Northern Corridor Urban Infill Project.

When she’s not in the office managing projects and doting on the resident doggos, she’s helping manage the St Luke’s Catholic Primary School Parents & Friends Committee (as their current Vice President), running the Lego Mini-Masters Challenge, or designing small sensory spaces (including gardens and quiet spaces) for children.

Persia & Cairo

The Saluki Sisters

We are very fortunate to have Persia and Cairo, who are Brett & Liz’s dogs, in our workplace at Staying in Touch.

Did you know that simply petting a dog for a few minutes helps your body release happy hormones like serotonin, prolactin, and oxytocin? So it’s not surprising that many studies have shown that pets in the workplace can make employees happier and increase productivity, team morale, and employee retention while decreasing stress and absence.

It’s lovely to be excitedly greeted by the dogs when we arrive at work, to stop for a moment to watch them doing something funny, or to have them join us on our breaks.

Persia and Cairo are Salukis – an ancient breed of desert dog, famous for their speed and who once hunted alongside Bedouins in the deserts of Persia.

Genetic testing has proven the breed is one of the oldest in the world, and dogs resembling the Saluki appear on Sumerian tombs dating as far back as 7000 B.C.

They certainly can look elegant and regal, but don’t let them fool you. They’re quite funny, mischievous and entertaining, and have just two settings – full-on or totally zen.
