Time to put your health first – BPW Joondalup August Dinner Meeting
Tuesday 14/8/12 – 6:45 pm
Good health & wellbeing is essential – easy to lose focus of this as we juggle all the other stuff! This month BPW Joondalup is putting our health back into focus…
If you’ve been spending any evenings at home in front of the TV and heater, then you may have noticed that the ABC is re-running its award-winning Paper Giants (The Story of the Birth of Cleo). Along with its peers, Cleo has arguably been instrumental in shining a spotlight on women’s wellbeing. Forty years on from the birth of Cleo it seems our priorities are still Family, Career, Friends, Health…
Health often comes last on the list and we
sometimes need to be reminded that it is
our responsibility to look after ourselves as
well as everyone else.
Education and early detection are paramount in women’s health and we are delighted to have as guest speaker at our August dinner meeting Tina Schiavello, PhD, Chairperson of GAIN, The Gynaecological Awareness Information Network Inc.
Tina completed her PHD in Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidneys in 2002 and has since worked in research and technical sales for a number of biotechnology companies. Tina’s interest in women’s health inspired her to undertake voluntary work in the woman’s health area, focussing on gynaecological health issues including HPV and cervical cancer, sexually transmitted infections and infertility.
Tina gives a light-hearted but thought-provoking message about looking after ourselves “downunder”. What we should know, look for, expect and do. She will also take us through the structure and activities of GAIN, which continually grows in membership and public profile.
We hope you can join us at our August dinner meeting on Tuesday 14th of August at 6:54pm. Please note that we are trialling a new venue this month.
